January 2017

DEADWOOD, SD- (JANUARY 21, 2017), There is no better way to start off the day of AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series racing than with beautiful blue skies and mild temps for Round 8 of the US Airforce Deadwood Snocross Presented by AMG Peterbilt. After a cloudy dismal day for Round 7, Mother Nature cleared the skies, calmed the winds and poured in the sunshine.

It was a challenging race weekend through the Lakes, Trails and Forests at the Park Rapids Heartland 106. The course was full of snow that was constantly changing throughout the days with the warmer than normal temps. The racers welcomed the challenge of the 106-mile-long course.

With higher than average temperatures in December, the USXC crew made the decision to move the Gerald Dyrdahl 200 from the middle of December to the first weekend of January. In that time, the Gonvick area received abundant amounts of snow. Chad Dyrdahl and his crew worked endless hours to make sure that the course was safe and enjoyable for racers.

Elias Ishoel racing snocross

Elias Ishoel backed up his season-opening Dominator win with a full blown Pro Open main event victory on Friday night, racing his Makita, NSK, GMC, Ski-Doo through a field of top contenders including Ross Martin and Tim Tremblay. Ryan Springer grabbed the holeshot in the final and put a nice gap on the field in the early going.
