IWA Watercross Recap from Ely, MN

The IWA visited the Iron Range over the weekend on the 5th stop of the 2016 season. With excellent weather once again, the races were tight as ever.

With one of the best starting line setups Ely has had over the years, holeshots were tough and tight with riders earning that top spot going into the first corner. Riders also faced an almost perfectly set up equalizer buoy that made or broke your race with all out drag races to the finish line. As the season end approaches, some classes are tight with only a few points separating the top 3.

The last race at Brainerd International Raceway is going to be a race where the some riders can see all their hard work pay off or loose it all in one weekend. As we get ready to gear up for Hay Days and Princeton Swap meets, here’s the latest news from the IWA Circuit.

Nate Winberg and Ryan Keith had a great battle trading spots in heat racing on Sunday.

Jeff Zapa took home the checkers in Semi-Pro Stock after a hard fought race. Only a few points separate him and Brian Kormanik for Overall Semi-Pro Stock Champion.

Kyle Carpenter is Mr Consistent in Pro-Stock.

Kyle Lakner won the big race in Semi-Pro Open in front of his hometown crowd.
